The Skin of Rock
Galapagos
For my new book, I chose Galapagos, the very place where 200 years ago Charles Darwin studied the origin of our species. The Galapagos are the perfect environment for visualizing and understanding the equilibrium of the oceanic system, and how it affects life on our planet at a profound level.
The oceans face very difficult time. With the continued challenges and disturbances we inflict upon them, we are undoubtedly contributing to the disruption of a millennial balance. It is essential to raise awareness now, in order to protect and preserve the Blue Planet.

Summary
In THE SKIN OF ROCK | GALAPAGOS, Emmy-nominated photographer Enzo Barracco showcases the beauty of Galápagos and illustrates the story of adaptation through an inspiring collection of remarkable photographs. He chose the Galápagos lslands for his latest project, the very place where nearly 200 years ago Charles Darwin’s experiences laid the foundation for his theory of natural selection.
With their unique geographical position, these islands are the perfect environment to visualize and understand how delicate the equilibrium of the oceanic system is and how deeply it affects life on the planet. Three major ocean currents converge at the Galápagos, creating unique biodiversity and rich ecosystems, like no other place on the planet. This unique constellation of factors also serves as a barometer of environmental fragility and climate change. Through words and striking images, the book seeks to transform our perception, encouraging us to rethink and create social change to maintain the balance of our oceans and guarantee the life of our planet.
